Become our new improvement lead for the Joint Advisory Group on GI Endoscopy (JAG)


Location Applicants will need to be based within the UK and will be expected to work flexibly to meet the requirements of the role. Much of the post holder’s work may be delivered from their own location remotely with occasional meetings in London and Liverpool

Working hours Average commitment is the equivalent 1 day per month 

Remuneration £375 per day or reimbursement to candidate’s employer


JAG Endoscopy has an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to become our new improvement lead, providing forward-thinking and expert leadership to JAG on waiting times, patient access, booking systems and admin workforce, across all nations.

This dynamic individual will collaborate closely with the JAGA Programme Manager, clinical lead and the senior leadership team to drive excellence in endoscopy services and advance the standards of care for patients. The individual will champion transformation and contribute to the continuous improvement of endoscopy services.

Your main areas of responsibility will be to:

  • lead on the provision of expert advice relating to medical queries
  • support developments to JAG accreditation and provide high quality guidance and advice
  • encourage engagement from all UK services and liaise with service leads as needed
  • collaborate with the JAG senior leadership accreditation team

The appointment is for 2 years in the first instance, with a possible extension of 1 year, funded at 1 day per month.

About you

We’re looking for candidates with:

  • NHS leadership experience with good understanding of the NHS, healthcare management structures and systems with experience of holding a management role in a larger provider
  • Experience working with others to build and maintain relationships; successful initiation and facilitation of multi-professional strategic partnership working and alliances
  • Consultant level doctor experience or equivalent

JAG is a programme from the Royal College of Physicians which empowers endoscopy services to improve care for their patients. JAG does this through three main workstreams:

  • Supporting service improvement through accreditation
  • Supporting development of the workforce by enabling the delivery of high-quality training
  • Enabling research into endoscopy practice through the National Endoscopy Database and our research projects.
